what breeds are good pets and are friendly

I am new to this site and am wondering what breeds are good and friendly pets. I really need some advince since i am only 10. I have raised some chickens since i was five but i just want some advince.

Americanas are really friendly, so are the polish.

As pets.... probably any kind of bantam or silkies.

I think Silkies, Polish Bantams, and Cochin bantams make the most excellent pet chickens. Mine are very docile and seem to enjoy being held. My personal vote is for the Polish - it has nice clean legs that don' t get poop and litter stuck in their feet. But those fluffy Silkies and Cochins are irresistible and so soft. Are you getting them as chicks? In my experience, all my breeds of chicks reared by hand from small babies seem to like people (except my Leghorns, but they are notoriously skittish). I wish you good luck in your chicken adventures! I have a 9 year- old son and he is my biggest chicken helper.

Our son absolutely loved the Cochin bantams. They were easy for him to handle and never aggressive. He decided to sell them, he's eleven and we let him make the choice, but now he regrets it. We may have to get him some more later on.

Since your mom is already getting some Top Hat types I would suggest Silver Spitzhauben. They are a very gentle breed.
