Hiya,
i've only just joined this website so sorry if this is in the wrong place or something!
I have recently recieved three bantams because their old owners have moved house.
They are very sweet, here are some pics
please could you tell me the breeds, also I was thinking about doing a couple of classes at poultry shows this summer, are they good enough?! also if so what classes should i enter them in?
thanks
,
here's the first 2, (the one at the back isn't that much bigger it just looks like it!)

Here's the other one, they wouldn't all stand still for one picture!

thanks!

first two - bantam barred cochin hen + buff sizzle?
second pic - buff cochin roo

OK thanks,
I looked up some pics of a buff sizzle and i think thats right,
when you said buff cochin roo did you mean rooster? I'm pretty sure they're all hens.....
thats what we were told anyway and she/he! hasn't crowed yet.....
but I could be wrong....
thanks

The buff is a hen if she is full grown. She just has a larger comb than the other one.

If you are planning on entering them in a county Fair, go ahead. You will learn a lot and have fun, hopefully. Unfortunately, if you are planning on entering in an APA (American Poultry Association) show, they are not show quality according to those standard.

First question do the birds have feather legs and toes? As the barred chicken could be a rock if no feathers on legs and feet. The chickens look like a fun pet class project. They all do look like females in this photo. If the skin on white bird is black from the silkie breed, my guess.

ok this is probably going to sound really stupid.... but are pekins and cochins the same? I have been looking in the schedule of a small poultry show, and they dont have a cochin class but there is a pekin one... thanks!

Pekin is the term used for Bantam Cochins in the UK so are you by any chance in England or Australia? I have seen this before where I give advice (especially breeds) directed at a 'local' person (North America) only to find out they are from Europe or Asia or someplace else!

Congradulations on your new birds and
