Don't worry about picture quality, I find it nearly impossible to get even one good picture of my chickens.
My Mom goes out there, though, and she takes excellent pictures with the same camera. I find it a little unfair.
I'd love to get a maran as well! I got one, but it grew into a mean rooster and we had to eat him. However, I'm still looking for a chance to get a hen that lays those gorgeous dark brown eggs.
Brahmas are really slow to develop, so it could still be a pullet. I have three brahmas that are far behind my other chicks of the same age, as far as feathering goes.
