I am starting a breeding project and was told I need dominate white (this is for wyandottes). i want something that isn't too far from the wyandotte look if possible and even better if I could stay in wyandottes for the color I need.
my current birds are splash blue laced reds only and I will be purchasing the needed dominate white. could a columbian be used or a white wyandotte (I know the white hides what's under neath but is white wyandotte a recessive white?).
I'm going for a buff laced wyandotte.

Not good at genetics so giving you a bump...hope someone can help you

I know there is a fantastic book out there that is new for us chicken people but right now the cost is still upwards of 100 bucks :O So I'm waiting. It's all about color and genetics. Great book!

Well, the Pearl Leghorn does - but you probably don't want to go there. There's also the Rhode Island White, and of course the buff-laced Polish.

If you've got the $$$ you could talk Dan Powell out of some Buff-laced Brahmas...

not looking for feathered legs, thanks
and actually leghorns are so the opposite of what I'm trying to breed for type- trying to stay with the wyandotte traits.

I actually just ordered it but that doesn't help me right now while I'm stewing that someone told me the birds I want to use won't give me the colors I want. I think they maybe wrong according to the chicken calculator but then again, maybe that's wrong.

Isn't what you want Silver (S)? And, aren't Delawares Silver?

Perhaps a Chantecler, the white variety?
