I was wondering what breeds are common in America. Here in England hybrids are popular to keep in our gardens. I'd really like some English game chickens but you don't see them very often.

A lot of people seem to keep Easter Eggers, which are a cross, for the coloured eggs but I'm in Aus & they aren't common here. Last time I did a buy I got some Campines, which my man keeps telling me look like game fowl. lol

There’s a lot of popular or common breeds here. Seems common for people to keep mixed flocks here. I don’t know if that’s a thing there. But in general I’d say the most common/popular ones and ones seen in the feed stores frequently, at least in my area, are probably Rhode Island Reds (although I think the feed store/hatchery ones are technically production reds), Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, Easter Eggers (though a lot of places call them Ameracaunas), and the sex linked breeds like ISA Browns and the other ones. Leghorns are pretty common too but I never really see them in feed stores, at least in my area, and Wyandottes seem pretty popular in my area too. And of course most stores sell the meat birds and the assorted bantams.
