I can't get really expensive rare ones and I need productive layers. Preferable not white egg layers. Docile, not too broody, not to flighty/nervous. Thanks! :)

Hi there.
I think that out of the breeds you have listed I would choose
Rhode Island reds, Easter egger, barred Plymouth Rock.
Rhode Island reds lay brown eggs. (260 eggs a year)
Barred Plymouth rocks lay brown/Light brown eggs (280 eggs a year)
And Easter eggers can lay Light or dark blue eggs / Oliver colour eggs or green eggs. ( 250 eggs a year)
I think the breed most lightly to go broody would be the Easter eggers.
But not very often.

I also think in the end you should choose a breed that you like best.

I agree those are the three breeds I chose and I couldn't be happier.
They are doing well even in our AK winter temps.

So many breed choices. What I like you may not. My climate and locale may differ from yours. Some breeds I thought I would like I really am not impressed with while others I now couldn't live without.
You can go to www.mypetchicken,com and answer some questions about what is important to you (not to anyone else) and they will give you some selections you should be happy with.Good luck in finding breeds that best suit you.

You described a rir to me, most people sell the production type which is what i have and they are wonderfull birds! They lay a large-jumbo brown egg everyday all year long and are very nice birds, even my rooster will let you carry him around. They dont go broody though so the hen wont ever hatch baby chicks, you will need an incubator if you ever wabted to get into that.

I personally dont have black australorps but they set a record for most eggs layed, and they are very similar to the rir breed however the hens do go broody and will hatch baby chicks for you. Both breeds are dual purpose and are good for meat and egg production. Both are hardy and docile and both bear confinment well. So you cant go wrong with either one of them!!!

Heres my reds

There's a reason the classics are classics.

go with Rocks, Australorps, hatchery Reds, sex links. All great backyard birds. Productive layers of nice brown eggs, handle confinement well.
