What breeds should I get?

I will be getting 5 chicks this July, all pullets, and I want a pretty, egg laying breed. What should I get?

What color eggs do you want? What kind of pretty? Feather feet or crowns on their heads? Where do you live? Some breeds do better with warm climates or cold ones. Do you want big ones or little ones? What's readily available nearby? Some states (like Virginia) require a minimum purchase of 6 chicks.

I want 5 or 6 chicks, no bantams, just pretty colored feathers. No crazy plumage. I live in north florida, and have a couple small hatcheries nearby. I don't care about the color of the eggs. Thanks!

These breeds are also able to withstand heat and provide great flock color

Australorps have black feathers with lots of sheen that are beautiful in the sun, they were bred for conditions in Australia and do well in the heat. Barred Rocks and Cuckoo Marans have really cool black and white patterns. Easter Eggers come in lots of different colors and they lay pretty blue/green eggs.

Wyandotte chickens are pretty. The gold and silver laced ones are pretty easy to find.
