What bugs do I have...

This morning as I fed my chickens something was on my ankle. It was black and tiny. I grabbed it and put on my finger. It moved and *poink* it jumped out and gone.
What kind of bug is this and how do I combat it?
I don't have dogs or cats, only fish and chickens.

Sounds very much like a flea.

Agreed. You don't need cats or dogs to have fleas; fleas get picked up by pets from the outdoors. Acquire some food-grade DE and sprinkle it in your chickens' dustbathing holes periodically; this will control them and any other lice/mites your birds may have.
