What Burrowed into My Chicken Run?

when I came out this morning, I found a pile of dirt and a hole going into my chicken run about 1-2" diameter. Seems too big to be a small rodent like a mouse. Even though it seems to have gotten into the run, my ladies are fine. Any ideas? FYI the tilted piece of wood in the back is actually a door to the run that I close at night, so whatever it was burrowed around the door, under the flooring separating the run from the chicken free range area, and into the run. The pile of dirt is about 6" high.


Also FYI- this is Colorado, so I don't think we have possums or woodchucks. I could be wrong on that one.

No footprints that I can see.

Mole maybe?

Could be a rat. They can make some pretty big holes. And they would be going after your chicken feed rather than your chickens, in most cases.
