What can I expect if I cull our only rooster?

It is hard to know what is in his skull. I'd be careful of the stick as you may push him over the edge if he thinks you are challenging him. Total downhill slide. Protect yourself yes, as a tool, careful.

I partner up with my boys so they can be all they can be. Feeding them 1st. Asking their approval when touching their girls. It has worked. How old is your boy?

Oh no, we don't tend to carry any of them around, but all of them will jump into our laps given the chance. We definitely don't keep them as pets or treat them as such, but having raised them from they were chicks the hens do seem to see us as part of their flock. And I'm guessing that is precisely what's triggering him, but there's little to do with it aside from keeping them fenced in. If we get broody hens next year I'm guessing any future birds will be less tame and seek less contact with us.
I get it. I'm the same here. But I only handle the boys when I have to. Hopefully you can "figure" him out and it works out.
And yes the broody momma does teach her babies we're the enemy.

Can you post a pic of your boy? I'd like to see him.
