What can I legally do with preditors in town?

I lost three rabbits when a dog got into my cages. This dog had previously been run off of my property, and I did my best to make everyone around the neighborhood understand they couldn't be letting their animals loose. I won't make that mistake again because I can't always be around to protect my animals.


Op, try googling the name of your city and"city ordinances". Same with the county.

However, if you are in a dense neighborhood, shooting a firearm may be a bad idea even if it's legal. Make use of traps. When you have something trapped, use a high powered air gun in your back yard if legal, or in your garage. If that's not an option try driving it outside city limits if there is a nearby piece of public land.

I'm not a fan of drowning but it is Ann option with some animals and it is faster than most poisoning options some people use.

Im skipping ahead so pardon if I repeat. Most states have a "pest law" u can use any legal method (no guns in city=no guns) to eliminate any animals destroying your property. Often included in fish and game regs.
I highly recommend live traps and/or powderless .22.
And yes I have seen racoons pull small animals through cages.

Forgot to mention powderless are often quieter than air rifles with better accuracy and higher power.
