My hubby is building custom cabinets and we have quite a lot of saw dust. This is clean wood not treated. What can I do with it? :confused:

Use it in the coop, under the perches, use it in limited quantities in deep litter management in the run. Use it in your garden paths. Watch the "Back to Eden" gardening video. One resourceful gardener filled his garden beds with sawdust, and then grew a bumper crop of sweet potatoes. I have yet to wrap my head around that one, but I'll not argue with his success.

thank you for the suggestions.......also trying to figure out a way to burn them for the dust baths LOL. And GREAT video, I just found a free source for wood chips :wee

What kind of wood is it?
@lazy gardener aren't there a few that are semi-toxic?
Why bother to burn them? The birds will be happy to dust bathe in them as they are.
Really? I was trying to get clean wood ash for their dust bathing. Currently I am using construction sand but am running out (left over from contractor build) and if its free why not try to use it for something :clap

Don't they have access to the ground to dust bathe?
Our run was built on grass so at first there was not dirt available, I had the hubby build a rectangle box for the sand. As the run has developed they now have access to the nice cool dirt under the litter. I found their carefully cleared area just yesterday. :lau I'm thinking of just removing the sand box as most of the sand has ended up OUTSIDE of the box. It was a pain anyways because most of the time there was so much dried up grass that had been thrown into it clearly they didn't care for the way I had decorated their run :celebrate I've starting to research the DLM as what I'm doing with the grass clippings is not working :he
