I'm all about reusing and recycling. Would it be safe to use a old piece of linoleum under the roost for easy cleaning? And any ideas of what I could use an old plastic kid slide for?

I don't see any reason you couldn't use the linoleum. Give it a good sanitizing before you put it in and all should be good.

As for the slide,

, I have visions of the chickens sliding down from the roost in the morning but I don't think that is likely

.

I will have to ponder.

I think the linoleum would be fine under the roost. I would sprinkle it with PDZ to keep the poo from sticking to it. Then you can just rake or scoop it to get the dried up poo out.

I would try to fashion a stairway leading to/from the coop by attaching strips of wood or PVC horizontally so they can get a grip and not slide back down. I wanted to do that with my metal slide but was afraid it would get too hot in the direct sun and burn their little feet.

That is a good idea. I could put it in their run and made a little "jungle gym" for them. That would be fun to watch.
