what can you tell me about speckled sussex?

I have one speckled sussex named Suki. I truly love more for her beauty, personality and loud mouth when I arrive with treats than for the size of her eggs or the regularity that she gives me the eggs!

While my speckled sussex tends to be at the bottom of the pecking order, she is very friendly and so curious. She is fun to have around. Don't know about egg production yet, she is still a young one. I would recommend the breed.

Rnau has some of the kin of national championship winners for buckeyes....He's in Alabama....I'll see if I can find the posting with information about them. They are really quite lovely....

Okay I just found the information and I'm quoting his posting

"I have been blessed to have top quality Buckeyes bred by Chris McCary. The brothers of my pullets finished 1, 2, 3 at the Nationals and the # 1 cockeral won best of breed. I have their father over them now. He is the full brother to the 2007 Nationals champion. This is the first of this cross to be offered, so happy bidding.

It sounds really exciting.....I want some but I need to keep my husband more!!!!

I broke my promise on no more extra pens other than the 4 we must now breed when I had a birthday hatch of Delawares.....so I must be very very very careful! He's tolerant, but he's tired and it's time to finish up the greenhouse.

So......I would suggest Rnau for some quality buckeyes.

My Speckled Sussex, Sissy, is the queen of the flock in a graceful, calm manner. I have a New Hampshire Red, Copper, who's the Sergeant at Arms and keeps everyone under control but she defers to Sissy. Sissy is a large sweet bird with a placid friendly manner. I would recommend one. I also have an Australorp, Sheila, who's a good bird as well. She's fun to watch because she parades around the yard in classic Australorp horseshoe shape. Always has her tail up, always happy.
