What can you use eggshells for?

Everytime I crack an egg and throw away the shell I think there must be some use for them. Years ago I remember my aunt soaking them in water and then watering her plants with it. I'm not sure why she did this. Anybody save their eggshells for any reason?

You can crush them and feed them back to the chickens. It is a great form of calcium for them.

I remember the eggshell water for plants- tried it for a while and decided it didn't do anything except make the houseplants smell.
Some people bake them, crumble them up and give back to the chickens for the calcuim.

You can crush them and mix them with soil in tomato plants. Tomatoes need lots of calcium.

Crush them and add them to your compost heap or to a hole dug for tomatoes.

I collect them until i have enough for seedlings in the spring and i plant shell and all,

I feed them back to the chickens

I crush then and mix it with potting soil

throw them on compost and mulch away..

As a kid I remember my mom putting a couple of egg shells in the coffee basket of their percolator, I believe the shells take some of the acidity out of the brewed coffee...

Keep the largest end to start seedlings in.
