So I just finished hatching in an incubator for the first time. 4 eggs of 22 were removed prior to lockdown. 14 eggs hatched in a 48 hour period. 2 days after the last hatch I opened the last 4 eggs. 3 were fully developed chicks that looked like the same breed. Can anyone tell me why the may not have hatched so I can prevent this from happening again. We did open the incubator twice to remove dry chicks but there were no pips visible when we did it.

I'm sorry they didn't all hatch. :hugs There are a number of things that could cause fully developed chicks to not hatch. Looking in the egg can sometimes provide answers and other times you just end up with more questions. Some of the more common issues are sticky chicks, malpositioning, or shrink wrapping. What did you see when you opened the egg? Had they internally pipped and not externally pipped? Were they in the correct position for hatching? You mentioned they were all the same breed, what breed?
