What chicken breed should I get?

My three absolute favorite breeds are my Lavender Orpingtons (great layers and are so sweet and beautiful), my Japanese Bantams (so teeny, rare, sweet), and my silkies!
Forgot to mention this too, but I got some Splash Andalusians, Splash Marans, and Splash Orpingtons and they are so sweet!! Like literally the sweetest chicks I have ever had. I love them so much!!

I have found that Wyandottes are very good setters with clutches of eggs. I had one that stayed in a nesting box with a clutch of eggs for days and hatched a chick. We have roosters and our brooding pen and coop wasn’t ready yet so sadly the other chickens killed the chick but I know that Wyandottes are successful mothers. And Wyandottes are a chunky dual purpose bird weighing in around 7 lbs for the hen. They also have rose combs and are very weather hardy so if you want, look into those. I hope this helps.
Here is a photo of one of my Golden Laced Wyandotte.

The third one wouldn’t stay still for a photo lol!
Such pretty girls! I have not ventured into Wyandottes despite how beautiful they are because I hear they often bully Orpingtons. & my Orpingtons are my babies.

I have a batch of chicks I purchased to put under a broody buff orp. Her 1st time and she started brooding in early Feb & we still had some freezing temps after that. I didn't think she'd stick with it, but she did! & she's the nicest broody I've ever been around, so I figured it was only fair to reward her.
I purchased 5 chicks that were sold to me as BBS Orpingtons, but NOPE. Four of my little "orpingtons" sprouted some fuzzy legs before they were a week old!
So after researching & asking others on this site, the consensus seems to be I have 5 precious Marans. Was super nervous since wasn't sure how'd they'd do with my Buff Orps. But feel better after a little research.
Looks like I may end up with 1 Splash, 1 Cuckoo (that I'm choosing to call my little bonus since not BBS! And it's older than the others. My guess is anywhere from 3-7 days since that baby was already working on the 3rd row of wing feathers when I picked them up), 1 black (or maybe Black Copper if he gave me a different breed, just like the Cuckoo), 1 blue for sure, and a second that could go black or blue rn (youngest chick) but is starting to lean more blue.

But I digress! I do have a question for you! Since you have both Oprs & Marans, my question is: in regards to temperament, what differences do you notice between the two? Your Marans get along with your Orps? Have a preference between the 2?
Aside from difference in egg color, any other info you could provide comparing the two based on your personal experiences would be greatly appreciated as Marans are a new breed for me. Thank you!

You say you can only have 4…is that a family limit or a town limit? If it is town, can you have a rooster? If not, you’d have to make sure your chicks are female. Silkies are super hard to sex until they are older.

FYI Cackle and Mt Healthy will both ship as low as 3 chicks in nice weather…if you need females only you should check them out!
