What chicken coop

The problem will be at night when you shut them up. I don't imagine that your temps drop that much at night do they? :( I am thinking heat and humidity is going to be your biggest concern. Wonder if when you get it if it wouldn't be possible to leave the front off and attach the run very securely and then skirt the whole thing? Just an idea....

Eta: okay looked at the pics again. That might take some finagling but I think it is what I would do for your situation. At least you know ahead of time.

I saw this on the hayneedle website

Q: "Description says well ventilated but photos show no vents. How is it ventilated?"
A: The New Age Pet ecoFLEX Jumbo Fontana Chicken Barn is great if you have up to 12 chickens. The ventilation is at the top of the barn and on the sides as well as holes in each of the corners in the floor for ventilation and drainage.

Also I don't want to leave them so exposed it worries me. But I guess it is better then them being hot. I would say the temperature drops at night and definitely is not as humid as day time, I am just not sure how it will be in a small box like that o.o

  • Well ventilated, easy to clean with raised floors that don’t touch the ground for separation between the cold, damp ground and your hens

Also this is in the description

That's a great suggestion!

SMH.......12 chickens???!! NOWAY!!

It should be fine size for 4 tho.....if you can add vents. Those slits are in no way adequate ventilation.

12 chickens in that? Somebody is smoking something. :( 12 chickens would suffocate in that. Idiots! Grrr.... I still think this can be worked out. I don't know how hard that would be to cut into but even the part on the front that is above where the run connects would provide air. I am just sitting here shaking my head at these idiots who sell these things. I would seriously want to hurt somebody who stuffed 12 chickens in that. :(

Don't feel defeated. I have been there too many times in this chicken adventure. I just want to encourage you that I think this is a workable coop for 4 chickens. Okay? You were smart enough to start with 4, unlike me who just had to have 12 (darn OCD! ) and you have researched tirelessly. I think by the time you need it you will find a solution for the ventilation problem. Hopefully, someone who has worked with this material will see this and have some suggestions. :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT! I really hope everything is good for my girls and appreciate your comment. And I WISH I could have gotten 12 right away but my husband is taking some warming up so I promised to start with 2 and got 4...hahah :p

If I cut it at all then I lose my warranty on it. It might be better to just return it I guess. I am just confused why so many people rate it so highly and even give updates about how well their birds are doing :(
