What chicken is this?

I was sold these chickens as both from the Plymouth Rock breeds but one was apparently just an anomaly.
They both look different now and I’m not sure if the black one is a hen or rooster.
Any help identifying them would be appreciated.

I think they both are around 10 weeks old

The BR looks like a cockrel. Not sure what breed the other may be. Any thoughts @Crazy 4 Chickens?

At 10 weeks, it’s still a little early to tell gender. But, I still think it’s probably a girl. Some cockerels are beginning to redden in the comb and wattles at this age.

You have a Barred Plymouth Rock cockerel and a Black Australorp or Black Jersey Giant pullet.

At 10 weeks, it’s still a little early to tell gender.

With most breeds, color and size of comb will tell the tale on males by 6-8 weeks.
Barred bird here looks to be male, and I'd say black one is female.

I’ve had pullets that had red wattles by 10 weeks... not my barred rock though. I think it’s still to young to be definite but I see more male in the rock. I think the black one is a pullet

You can tell Barred Rock cockerals by 3-4 weeks. If that is really a BR it is a pullet.
