What chickens lay dark brown eggs?

I have a pair of chicks that I hatched out from eggs from my friend. They started to lay dark eggs so I want to know what type of chickens they are. So which chickens lay dark, brown, eggs?

Do you have any pics? Cuckoo Marans and Welsummers are known for laying dark eggs.

No I don't have a picture and yesterday a dog killed them.
