I got a mixed batch of orpingtons and wondered what you would say these colors are...is there such a thing as a splash orpington? If you look up colors in the poultry breed book I have it would call them Lemon Blue....what do y'all think? 1 and 2 are the same roo, 3 is the other color

I wonder why you ask, but I got them at an auction. well, technically...my DH bought them at the auction. I told him not to bid on anything unless it was a hen/pullet. so what does he do? bid on a box full of chicks labeled orpingtons. They are about 4 or 5 months old now and I of course have roosters to get rid of now!

I do not think they arev a pure color, most likely a color mix

Quote:I agree they don't look like a pure color. I was wondering where you got them so if you got them from a hatchery or breeder with a website you could go look at what varieties they sell.

Quote:so is there a name for the mix? yes, I realize that it would not be a SQ name, but like a loose term that maybe orpington buffs (lol) might use
