Our Whitmore Farms Wellies lay a range from solid dark terracotta through various shades of brown with various speckles to an almost white egg with a few speckles to let us know it was a Wellie. I and my customers like them all.

I have Whitmore Farm Welsummers too! I get 2 very dark speckled ones and one with hardly any speckles at all. I love the speckles. I'll try to post pics tonight.

I also ordered from Whitmore Farm...I loved their packing! I wish I was a little more experienced hatching eggs at the time...not the best success rate (40%), but we did get the birds we wanted. I love my Wellies eggs...the one I found today was RED...and one of the other layers ate it and left a crumpled shell! Grrr.

They are normally speckled on one end, but it is faint.

Hmmmm well, I can see that there is not a consistant (sp) Wellie egg out there. Our hens are from Welp...the hens do look the same, but they don't all lay the same color. Each has her own size and color. But we do like their eggs.

Here are some of my Wellie eggs:

I've found that the color they lay in the beginning, is pretty much what they continue to lay.
The exception are those that lay a speckled egg. The background color can become darker or
lighter as the spots even out, or become more concentrated.

My one and only welsummer was the last of the litter to start laying. She started with a small terra cotta egg and after a couple of weeks has worked her way up to large. Sometimes solid and somtimes speckled, but they have always been dark.

. She is a Tractor Supply chick.

Alas, my welsummer hasn't laid in months. Now she's molting again. All the other breeds are consistent layers. Sad as she's gorgeous normally.

My welsummer is already 30 weeks pullet and still hasnt laid but my other girls are if light is what triggers egg laying i dont understand she gets the same as the others..but im hoping for a nice terracotta as well...sigh ...the waiting .....
