What color/breed is it?

It's either a gold or cream brabanter. Ideal's red polish are solid red with some thin black striping. Gold laced polish chicks look very different from the chick in the OP.

My vote is for the gold-and-cream from Ideal - you're in TX, you got that cute li'l bugger from a feedstore in TX, and Ideal is in TX....Sherlock!!

That first picture of it is so cute it's making me want more CHICKIES!!
 
Non of my Brabanter chicks have ever looked like that chick. It does not have a dark beard and it's feet are too light. I've been wrong before! I'll be curious to see how it turns out! Keep us posted

Check out the Pyncheon chicks on "feathersite" I raise this breed and your chick looks EXACTLY like a Pyncheon chick.
 
Pyncheons are fairly rare, so I don't think a feed store would be selling them.
