What color chicks will I get with a black rooster over splash hens?

Do you know how blue mottled works? If I have a blue mottled large fowl over a blue hen? Would it have the same outcome as the chart? Blue to blue is 25, 50, 25
Blue X Blue, will be 25% Black, 50% Blue, & 25% Splash yes.
The mottling gene is recessive, so it won't effect the outcome of the first breeding.

I’m debating between a black cochin rooster and a blue cochin rooster (blue has leakage)… to breed over my blue, black, buff, white, partridge hens.

What are your thoughts?
Is it possible to breed out the leakage problem?
What about my leakage problem? Is that possible to breed out?

If you're breeding either of those males to Buff or Partridge hens, and possibly even with the White hens, then you're not going to resolve the color leaking issues, you're most likely going to make them worse. White Cochins are recessive white like many Silkies are, so the issues I mentioned in the paragraph about recessive white in post #12 are the same in Cochins as in Silkies. You just don't know what plumage color genes might pop out of them, so it's safest not to use them in such corsses if you're wanting to improve color leaking.

If you cross those males to Blue and Black hens, you might be able to fix the color leaking, but it's reportedly very difficult to do. If color leaking is something you want to breed away from, I would not use the male with the color leakage at all, and only cross the one without color leakage to the Blue and Black hens.
