What color did you paint your coop?

It does. We just don’t want to have to replace the plywood for as long as possible. We got the OSB and it’s just not all that cheap. Especially with rising prices. We paid like $10 more when we did the coop for a 4’x8’ sheet than we did in April for my husbands temporary shelter area for his tools until we can get his garage built. I considered painting it inside but I just see them pecking it. And they would poop on it anyway. I might do some research on the mites around here and may end up painting the inside anyway lol.

I painted the inside of my coop, not for the looks, but for the additional protection that it offers the wood. I'm using sheet vinyl on the floor, but even the floor was primed then painted before adding the vinyl. I painted the frame on the screen window, too. It was just done after this photo was taken.

Question: how do you all manage those slippery sheet vinyl floors? @DavidReaves , it looks like there's not enough room for bedding over that floor next to that window, and I hope you added screwed in wood frames over the hardware cloth.
Just wondering...

Mine is covered in a couple inches of sand/sweet pdz. But anything else would work too. When it comes time to clean, you can rake it all out in a quick swoop! Since its covered, the vinyl stays clean.

The floor has pine shaving bedding on top of the vinyl. There is a removable board (1" x 4" with velcro) to hold the bedding in place. Pop door and entry to nest boxes are also both 3.5" above the floors. I don't have extra framing over the wire, it is 16-guage "rabbit" wire with 1" x 1/2" openings and is more than strong enough to hold without extra framing. It's also tight enough that there aren't any really exposed sharp edges.

It does look nice! How often do you clean it, and how many birds? Doesn't look practical for us here.

I clean it every week or two. I have 8 chickens. Takes only a few minutes, so i can easily do it more when they decide its the 24x7 clubhouse! I use sand in the run too, and its super fast to pile the poop up with my little bush rake (it has tines closer together). I rake it into the dog pooper scooper pan.

We painted our coop barn red with white trim. We even added accents because I wanted it to look like a mini barn. Since these pictures, we have added to the run. The addition is roofed to match
