What color is this cochin?

I thought it was a Birchen Cochin, but its feathers are coming in black with some brown on them. Not really pronounced, kind of splashed on?

The down color is not right to be a pure partridge. The color reminds me of a Buff x Black breeding.

I know I have a partridge, she is a whole lot lighter and feathering out so much faster too. That is what is confusing me about the dark little guy (I too am suspecting roo)
