I thought there were black, blue and white Polish chickens. What color would you say this child is? She was solid black when I got her, with a white tuft on her head. Thanks!

Polish come in many colors, that one looks like a combination of at least 2 (White Crested Black and Red, maybe?). With those spikey crest feathers, it also looks like a cockerel rather than a pullet.

I really didn't want to hear that she is a rooster! Dang it! I wanted eggs BUT she has been crowing recently. hahahhaa! Thanks!

Thanks! I'm so new at this and when I bought a white crested black polish pullet, that's what I thought I was getting, but I guess there are so many surprises in raising chickens, aren't there? I love my babies though, no matter what they are!

Ok one more question....here's my rooster and he and she? were hatched the same day from the same mom, so if the black one is a rooster too, how come she/he doesn't have the wattles hanging down like the grey rooster? I'm confused....thanks!

I agree with the above posters...your black roo most likely has some gold laced polish mixed in with him and he has a beard which is why you aren't seeing much wattle...the grey has no beard, hence the larger wattles. Sorry the sellers didn't give you the whole truth when they sold you the little guys. You have to be careful when buying chickens because a LOT of people will lie and tell you what you want to hear rather than tell you what they really have...it's about the all mighty dollar to some out there and not what's best for the bird and the new owner.

Thank you all so much! Even though I wanted a boy and a girl, I wouldn't give my babes up for anything, so since they were raised together, hopefully they will always get along. Sometimes they have a "stare-off" but no fighting has occurred.
