What color is this project bird?

Hey everyone, I saw this project silkie on Facebook. They mentioned that it’s a project color they’re working on and I thought she was soooo pretty. What project could this be for? Do other breeds have it? How can I get some? Thank you!

It looks like a partridge but it isn’t. I thought maybe black copper Marans color but idk.

Well it looks like a satin not actually a silkie, and yeah I'd call it black copper I guess from this picture. Not really sure what they're going for just yet tbph

That's actually not a Silkie. And the pattern would be Brown Red.

Why wouldn’t it be a silkie? Just because it’s a satin? That doesn’t change the breed though, with black skin and 5 toes.

Because it's a silkie cross not a pure silkie

Yeah, but it’s been bred back to silkies for generations. That’s how any breed gets a new color. Once it breeds true to the silkie genes it’s still a silkie.

Right but lacking silkie feathers is kind of a major disqualifier for breeding true to silkie genetics. you're right that is how every color project get started and I'm not saying they won't get there I'm just saying they're not there yet
