What color OEGB is Tyson?

Hi,

Your cockerel looks like a fawn birchen.
He has a little peppering on his wings so he could be het duckwing.

These is my first fawn silver duckwing:

He is het silver/gold (=golden) and has one copy of the dun-factor.
2 copies would make the brown very light, up to white (khaki).

Good news. Dun is dominant. You could cross your cockerel with a birchen pullet and have lots more.

These are beautiful! Never knew OEGB could be so pretty.

Hen69, what type is that female white/barred behind your OEBG roo? She's interesting and I just have to ask. I don't think I've seen a chicken like that before.

OK, now you've done it! I'm going to have to get some purebloods to try for something more specific.

Must be-

Brown Eggs (well, ok, non-white eggs)
Cold hardy
Good foragers
Pretty
A breed that could use some support in our modern mass-market society

Are those crazy parameters? >.>

I think your Tyson is beautiful! Now I'm going to go start a new thread so I don't hijack Tyson's ID potential!!!

Henk,

I am very impressed with the autosomal barring look. How hard is it to breed for relatively decent barring or better?

I have sometimes considered starting up a line of autosomal barreds using the genes necessary for that phenotype. What has been holding me back so far is I have no idea if it is not that simple as the barring needs much further selection and culling between autosomal barred birds to make the bars crispier or something like that?

Well good luck.

A few hints. These Brakels are birchen based with autosomal barring and I suspect late feathering (K-factor like in plymouth rock).
But heavily underestimating the fine tuning done for this breed now.

They are white eggers.

That is pretty much what I feared as mentioned above.. it not being that simple. Oh well, too bad as the specimens showing crisp barring are a real pleasure to look at. Won't pursue it then.
