I know the little black one is... well black (I’m not that blonde) but what color do you think the greyish ones will be? Hatched over the weekend. the eggs came from my hen that is a white bearded silkie..and my roo is a black bearded silkie
Your black doesn't. Blue is a dilute of black. Black can't carry it sight unseen. If it has it it shows.
Your white is blue under the white. That pair will produce black or blue offspring.
White is recessive so needs it from both parents to show. All those babies will carry recessive white hidden. It is possible for your male to carry white and if so they could also produce white chicks. If he doesn't carry it they won't produce any whites.
That makes a lot of sense. I don’t know much about color genetic but have been trying to learn. The other two eggs I incubated with these ( one passed two hours after hatching and the other was a egg that quit a week before) were both black chicks. Now if I rehome these babies I would have to tell the person they came from diff color genetics right? Like they wouldn’t be breeder quality?
What they see is what they get as far as black and blue.
Just tell them they carry recessive white.
Some won't mind because its another color they can get in the offspring.
Others absolutely would not want recessive white in a Blue, black and splash line.
