What color works with most other colors?

Are there any colors/patterns that work well with a lot of different colors?

If I were to have a mixed flock and wanted the rooster's color to go well with a lot of different colored hens and not just hatch a bunch of solid black or white birds is there a specific color/pattern I should consider?

No. I don't know of a single color or a pattern that would produce a variety of offspring when crossed to a variety of hens.

The closest would probably be black or recessive white.
Black is used in a lot of breeds to improve the type and such of the other color, so first generation offspring would be all black usually, and then once those are bred any of the underlying colors can show up.
However, recessive white works the opposite way, so long as the other color pattern is a dominant trait (not mottled/mille/cuckoo etc) then it will show up and the bird will Just carry one recessive white gene.
Although I don’t recommend either. It ends up with muddled barnyard mixed birds rather than nice looking specific breeds.
