Hi!

I had four darling Indian Runner ducklings hatch on Tuesday night, and they're the prettiest color! Their dad came to me as a Buff Runner from Sandhill Preservation center (but, as so many people have aptly pointed out, he looks more Saxony or Trout than Buff) and mom's a White Runner. Now, not knowing what other color(s) mom could be hiding "underneath" the white, what would you call this color?

Dont' know about the color...I do know - THEY ARE REALLY CUTE!

Enjoy!

I only have another day to enjoy them - they were pre-sold, and are going to their new home on Saturday. BUT - The wonderful person who is taking them is going to send me some pictures when they feather out, so that I can see how the color turns out.

Plus, my White Runner duck, who had stopped laying when I started renovating the duck pens earlier this month, laid an egg yesterday! No egg today, but I'm hoping she lays a few more in the next week and then I can hatch some more of these cuties! I'm keeping one out of the next batch!

I also have someone who bought some fertile eggs from me (out of my Indian Runner pair, so they'll be full siblings to these ducklings) and has 5 eggs going strong due around the 11th, so I'll be getting some pictures of them as well!

Yes - they do have a light silvery-blue cast to them. I know that they got a copy of the Blue Dilution gene from their dad, and I'm thinking that he gave them Buff dilution gene as well (because they have pink bills & feet, and the Buff dilution affects the pigment in the legs, feet, and bill).

I was just kind of hoping someone would recognize the color and tell me there's a name for it! But, I guess it's just a non-standard, unnamed dilute. They're so gorgeous though, it's going to be hard to let them all go!
