So I have about 10 chicks I took from my incubator and let my broody hen who was sitting on golf balls adopt them. 5 of them that hatched from my Black Star hens eggs I gave her ended up hatching black chicks along with 4 yellow chicks. The eggs were dark drown and I'm almost positive they're her eggs that hatched. Their father is black mix breed... And I'm wondering if any of you know what they'll look like as adults? Any idea on what the white ones might look like (All the eggs were hers except for a light gab one, but I watched each one hatch so I know what eggs they hatched from) I know that some of the black star hens eggs hatched as yellow which I was told might be the Wheaten type color... But what about the red and brown one?

This was the one from the light colored egg... Looks a little weird but pretty interesting! It has some interesting legs as seen in the second photo!

I had stated a hatch from my black star hen eggs for a breeding project I'm doing. 3-5 days after I had put them in the incubator my, one of my two Black Star hens went broody so I decided to let her sit on golf balls and decided I was going to just give her any chicks I hatched. However her sister (the other Black Star hen) kept laying in her nest box so some of her eggs started developing.

After I let my broody hen adopt the chicks I hatched in my incubator I took the golf balls along with the 4 eggs she was sitting on and put them in my incubator since they are only a week away from hatching.

During my test hatch I started before the hen went broody I had put 12 eggs in my incubator. 2 didn't get past day 14 of development and the other 10 hatched perfectly fine and have all been successfully hatched. Now I'm wondering what the chicks might look like as adults...

The white one maybe recessive White.
(Pictures of Father are always helpful)

The Redish/orange chicks Red, or gold on Columbian base.

This is the dad, he's a mix of blue and black Australorp along with a Light SussexView attachment 3939717

Cool!
He's golden birchen. All resulting chicks from him would be birchen. Chicks would all be black.
With the Sussex he would also carry Columbian. But only split.

Yeah, I had someone else say that some of the chicks might be solid black so since I was t to breed out a lineage of birds that look like him I'd only keep chicks that are birchen! Out of my past hatches I've done about 26 percent of the chicks are Sussex and almost always have grey legs.

The black chicks will stay black. As for the light yellows I think that's going to turn out white. The darker yellow with patterns might be brown with lighter patterns. (Look at those pictures) Like the files thats a speckled suxxes for example. The chicks were dark yellow then as they got older they turned brown with those markings!
