What Colors would you cross

What colors would you cross to get a blue bird with white mottling like the Blue mottled cochins ?

You can use blue as well... but only half the offsprings will be blue carrying mottle....

What breed?

I havent been able to get my hands on any blue mottle cochins , so thought i may make my own.

It would also be nice to have this coloring in other breeds as well . I think a Wyandotte or Orph would look great with this coloration too .

In the first cross , Is it splash Roo x black mottled hens or vise versa or does that matter in this mating ?

No, it doesn't matter which color is the mother or father in the first cross, it will give all blue chicks that carry one copy of the mottling gene but doesn't show it, ( called Split mottled) Cross the F1s together and you will get all three BBS colors with only 25% of them showing mottleing or cross the F1s back to the parent black mottleds and get half black half blues, half them will be mottled, half will be split.
