Hi all,
Just starting out with building a breeding flock of Orpingtons as well as Marans. I currently have Orpington hens that are lavender splash, chocolate, blue, chocolate and lavender and buff. What colour rooster will give me the most variety? I am assuming the marans would have the same result breeding with a Marans roo. I truly love the lavender and chocolates but I can get almost any colour rooster at this point. I have tried reading some colour genetic charts but they hurt my brain!!
Thanks in advance!

If you're just wanting one rooster black is the sensible answer because It plays well with everything there except buff. Personally I'd throw the buff out. That color doesn't fit in.
For just variety sake chocolate would be best probably. There's not one color that's gonna throw the amount of varieties of your hens.

I agree! Black would give you a lot of good options to play with but chocolate would give you a lot of variety! Either one is a good choice :)
