What comes after chick food?

Ok...so next trip is a 50 lb bag! I suppose that it can still be eaten if they are over 18 weeks? Next question...hopefully the "girls?" will be out side in the next week or two...getting kind of big for the basement...Cracked corn, how much and how often? I am in southern NH, so it will get cold.

Well, now I'm confused. I've been feeding my chicks mash--just plain old mash--the feed store people said it would be fine for chicks. They eat it, they're growing, etc. Could they be not getting what they need nutritionally? I also have some crumbles that will come out when this bag of mash finishes.
They are nine days old and looking healthy except for one pasting up (but not severely). I'm not medicating them.

Mash is just another name for a style of feed. It comes as mash, crumble, and pellet. My guess us you're feeding chick mash, as most adults go on crumble or pellet.

As for corn, just a handfull for the girls before bedtime if it is cold out.

10 lbs at a time!! Wow, what must that be like? Well, I guess since I have 60 chicks in one coop, 30 in another, and 6 in another, that 10 lbs for me would be pretty silly.

I'm going though about 50# every 4 days. I don't know why I even bother putting it in their trash can feed holder.

How many of the 10 lb sacks have you already bought? If it is at least 2 in the past 5 weeks then I bet they would eat another 50 lbs up and probably then some before they turn 18 weeks.

That is unreal something so little can eat that much! I am waiting on my first 5 and here until I read your post I was worried that the 20lbs I bought would go bad before they could eat it up.

FYI I did buy a 50 lb bag and my 5 girls went through it in about 5 weeks. They now go through about 10 lbs of layer crumbles in 3 days...they also get a handful of cracked corn and another of black sunflower seeds in the evening.

REALLY?! Holy Cow please tell me most of that was scattered on the floor and wasted. I knew all the little things did was eat and poo, but that is a lot of food! The cute little things are feathered pigs with a beak in disguise I guess.
