What Coturnix colors do you keep? Breeding?

I've noticed my gold based whites have blue eyes too.  sammijane - your birds are beautiful.  There are no blue/lavender quail where I live (New Zealand) so I just have to admire yours from afar.  They are very pretty.

I have 5 with blue eyes, 4 different colored birds. I've put them together to see what happens. :)
Can you get Australian birds in NZ? I know of at least two people that have lavender and other similar birds in Australia. Maybe they'll make their way to you sooner or later.

Due to many critically endangered bird species here there are no imports of birds or bird products. The only thing that does come into the country are eggs for the poultry industry. We are lucky that we don't have some poultry diseases here that are overseas so it's not all bad. But it just means that we have to work with what we have.

I was wondering if the blue eyes could be bred into other colours. I'll be interested to see if any of my babies have blue eyes. I have two gold based white roos with blue eyes.

I'm studying quail genetics, and while I don't personally deal with any whites, I am fairly certain in English Whites occasionally having spots as well.

Rosetta is just a single copy of extended brown (the gene that makes Tibetan). it can also come from manchurian or pharaoh bred to Tibetan.
The person I got them from had many of these (big head spot and tail spot) and actually couldnt seem to breed white out of them (mainly I think because its so hard to sex them)

How far do I need to keep my Quail away from my chickens

That depends on who you ask. Some people keep them as far apart as they can, such as separate buildings on opposite sides of the property. Some people keep their quail cages in the chicken coop or run. *shrug* My chickens free range and have been around my quail cages occasionally and I've had no problems.
