I have a hybrid hen who is about 2 years old and has always been a good layer and very active. Yesterday i noticed her sitting under a bush asleep so when i picked her up she didnt move. I checked her over (vent and crop) but found nothing unusual, she has no mites as she has been treated. Her poo was runny yellow but has changed now to a very liquidy but normal looking greeny poo. I gave her a bath in the afternoon and she made a strange straining sound but nothing came out so i left her to dry off in the sun, all she does is sleep! I put her in the hen house with some yoghurt and water and she had some of this then went and lay in the nest box for the rest of the day/night. This morning her crop seemed quite large so i massaged it and tried to make her sick but nothing came out! I went to the store and crushed some garlic up which she had a little bit of but seemed very disorientated trying to eat it. She wanted to eat some layers mash but hardly had any. Now i have felt her crop again and it has gone down alot, her poo seems to have a lot of white in it and still runny, she has gone into the nest box again now!
What im asking is do you think she has sour crop? or could she be egg bound? or is there anything else i should do to help her be her happy self again?
