I observed her more today to see if she shakes her head or gapes and saw none of that. So I am leaning more toward tape. As I scooped out poop I tried to spot some worms but didn't see anything. I didn't look intro detail but just looked over each shovel scoop. I took another peak at her vent area and didn't spot any worms but I want to get a better look later on. She is quite small and whimpers a bit when I pick her up, she's not one for being picked up anyway. I'm getting that worming med today and will call my vet to get a price for a test.

An update.

Melody is sorta the same. She does have some yellow stains on her vent feathers thought I haven't spotted any worms there. I DO think I saw something in her runny clear-ish poo that looked like it could've been a tapeworm, Monday. My older brother ordered a medicine called Backyard Chicken: Zyfend A. Anyone have experiences with this? Also, can I feed Melody anything that might make it easier on her?

Melody seems to have gotten weaker today. I'm not sure if it's just part of the medicine or worsening condition. Of course her comb is pale and is still light in weight. For some reason she tried to jump on a roost about a foot high and couldn't make it up (she managed to get on a higher roost the night before). I did call for pricing on fecal testing and hope to get an appointment soon.

An update:

I got to take her to the vet today. The fecal test came back watery but normal. Looks like I was on the wrong track. She had a high temp that the thermometer couldn't read it. They prescribed baytril antibiotics for injection and gave her an anti-inflammatory injection. She was a bit more lethargic today. She has gotten weaker. So, she has gotten worse.

The only thing I question about the temperature reading is that the last hen I took there had a temp of 107 which the vet said was a fever. But, chickens have temps around that range because of their metabolism.

She didn't recognize what the worms were. The crappy photo quality didn't help. Let's hope that the antibiotics take care of what is making her ill. Melody is now in the dog kennel with food and water.

Glad to you were able to take her to a vet.

Did they check her abdomen to see if she may have an internal/reproductive disorder?
Since she is older that may be a possibility.

I don't think they checker her abdomen. Just temp and fecal sample. That is what I was going there for. Her abdomen doesn't feel odd to me. It's definitely not swollen.
