What could cause the wound?

I had 2 baby chickens and 4 laying hens. They were separated. Today the baby chickens escaped and when I found them, only one was there with wounded leg. The other is missing. Does the wound seem to be pecked by hens or other predators? and do I need to take some care to this or just let it cure? The baby chicken is about 3 weeks old. Thank you!

I honestly think that if it were a predator, you would not have a chick left. They're just too small at that age to really survive any attack. Have you tried cleaning it up to assess the damage? I can't tell how bad it is. Sometimes all the blood will make it look worse than it is.

Thanks for your reply! I am just wondering if it is the pecking from the hens, where is the other chick. Could not find anywhere. Hens could not eat it with all feather right?

The wound could absolutely be from the hens, especially if they grabbed a leg while the chicken was trying to escape. If they escaped into the great outdoors, it's possible the other one was run off. I'd keep searching.

I just check the would again. Looks ok. It can run and jump without limp. Seems only missing the skin

Thank you I will try to search again. I just hear this one crying all the time. no other chick sounding nearby
