Apologies for the graphic photos.
I lost one of my barred rocks to some kind of predator. I'm wondering if anyone has seen this type of attack before. I'm thinking it's someone's cat, because it only went for the neck and didn't try and eat any part of the bird.
I'm in the suburbs and I have hawk lines up. They free range during the day inside my backyard. I have 6' privacy fencing all around.
This happened in an hour while we were inside in the midmorning. Usually are dogs are out and protect the birds.
There was no infighting that I saw, and they were terrified when I came back outside.
any insight would be nice.
they'll be staying in the coop for a while, hopefully I'll spot the culprit.

That is a raccon type thing, where was the bird when you found it?
A few feet underneath the crawlspace of my house. The back room was added on so there's a 2 foot tall space under it they like to hang out in.
