fisher cats do not live in NC![]()
Yes they are in Oregon becauswe in the late 90's some moron rocket scientist thought it would be good to re-establish them to kill porcupine which they claimed were overpopulated but funny in 6 years I never saw the first porci dead or alive in the State!Fishers' are not "commonly" found in North Carolina anymore, but it is possible to have one there. They used to reach all the way down to north carolina and over to oregon, and now are spotty, but not "impossible" to find. I would definitely go with Fisher, that is the only thing I can think of that would make a sound so scary (besides sasquach)![]()
No thats not its longer than thatDid it sound like this?

We have Fisher cats in our woods and when they are mating ( usually in June ) they sound like something is screaming bloody murder out there.
I'll see if I can find a recording of that.
I don't think minks live here and I'm not shore about weasels.Correct but there are plenty of Weasels, mink and bobcat and the often overlooked high pitched screaming cougar aka mountain lion. They sound like a woman or young girl screaming. Had them all over crossing through our front yard back in Oregon..very eerie sound.
