I too am a first year newbie chicken owner. I have been surprised at how easy it is for me to care for my chickens. They are so much fun. I didn’t realize that they all have different personalities. I have one we call baby, because she loves to brood (with or without eggs) under her. When I go to get the eggs she kinda purrs, then when she lays an egg she does cackle she cries. Sooo cute. All of my hens want to be petted when I go down there. One thing I do that makes it so much easier to care for them was to get a goat trough, I already had a water float, we then attached it to the wall and hooked up the hose. Voila constant water, only have to clean it out once in a while.
