Im thinking about getting a 1x Americauna and 1x Barred Plymouth Rock. That would be a total of 3 hens.

If it's about laying:

Leghorns: Beautiful birds, one of the best layers, nice
Campines: The most beautiful but rarest, very very exceptional layers
Orpingtons: Go broody, great mums, great layers, really pretty girls
Rhode Island Reds: Great layers, funny chickens
Any Wyandottes- Really really great all round birds
Dorkings: Exceptional meat and egg birds, may be plain looking but are real characters!
Barnevelders: Nice looking, great brown eggs

My personal favourite: Phoenix- Very rare but so pretty and can lay well
Speckled Sussex: Decent layers, very pretty
Swedish flower- Very pretty and good layers
