I went out to check the nesting boxes and my Buff Orpington was sitting in the box. She got up and left the box and this thing was in there. Not sure if it came from her or another chicken, as she has a tendency to brood and hog that box.
This thing was a little smaller than a ping pong ball, had a strand that looked like an umbilical cord (for lack of a better term) attached to one end and had poop on it. When I picked up the nesting pad and dumped it on the ground outside the run, it split and it looked like blood and yolk were leaking out.
Is this a disease or some sort of a physical internal problem? In my 6 years of chicken keeping I've never seen anything like this. All my flock seems otherwise normal acting.
