What did you do in the garden today?

Today, first day of retirement!

I added compost to one of the gardens that has been washed out repeatedly by rain, and my new wood chips on top! (3 yards delivered yesterday by our local tree service, free!) Watered the asparagus and potatoes, and the new grass near the raised beds. Played with the chickens. Did some laundry and some paperwork. Drank a beer with DH when he came home from work around 2:00.

Chatted with the postmistress and bought some more compost. (Truly, nothing left in those beds but rocks, sand, and seedlings.)

It was warm and sunny. If this is retirement, I'll take it!
Congratulations on retiring.
:wee
The one thing I found out was I couldn’t understand how I ever had time to work. I mean (to me) doing what I want all day, time just fly’s. How did iever put in 8 hours a day??:lau
Enjoy ;)

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday was pretty warm, up around 90F but it wasn't humid so not so bad. This morning the "ugh" of humidity has settled in. The garden seems to be enjoying the warmth and everything is growing well. Although there was nothing to pick this morning. The rest of today is forecasted to be a bit cooler than yesterday with thunderstorms rolling in later this morning or afternoon. Happy Retirement @trumpeting_angel! The first week of retirement for me was spending a lot of time indoors and sleeping. My commute was an exhausting experience and I don't miss that one bit. I agree with @MissChick@dee, how did I ever find time to work 8 1/2 hours a day with a total round trip commute of over 3 hours 5 days a week. I always have things to keep me busy around the house and the only boss around here is those hungry, noisy chickens. LOL! Have a great day everyone.

Just had the irrigation lines running for the morning watering. Holy Bob howdy! It's already miserable out there. The dewpoint is already 78 degrees and the temp in the 80s.

I hosed off the alpacas while I was out there. The chickens are begging to be let out, but it's too early. Soon it will be safer to have them out than in (heat wise), and hope for the best with predators.

The tomatoes really need tied up and trimmed up. I'll tackle that just before sunset. I'll feed the mosquitoes while I'm out there. Tomorrow I'll feed the plants.
