What did you do in the garden today?

The bugs are so bad this year!! This winter is supposed to be quite harsh this year being an el nino year... c'mon lots of snow so I can get in an epic year snowboarding.

But my flock might not be as enthusiastic.

I did not do anything in the garden are garden is gone for the year but we did get some much needed rain to day

yes its been quite raniny here too... feels more like spring than fall. I think our raspberry bush is officially tuckered out and we will chop it down for the winter. our figs still are not ripe enough!! ugh. I fear they will rot before ripen.

We are fighting those hateful white moths.  They are after our collards and broccoli.

I hate those things. The chickens love their worms though. We have cabbage mites and aphids now. The bugs have been so bad this year, probably because we had a very mild winter. I usually greenhouse garden through the cold months but I think I'm going to not do that this year and not set up the greenhouse covers so the garden beds will freeze and kill off some of these pests.

Picked a gallon bucket of mixed baby greens, collards, mustards, cilantro, basil, lettuce, Asian greens, radish greens.

had a nice salad and a delicious green smoothie for my lunch, the little one ate a whole bowl of greens raw with just a sprinkle of cheese.

We also planted more collards a whole row.

The chickens got a couple handfuls of the Asian greens too as well as a couple branches of Marigold plants.
We picked a few green heirloom beefsteak tomatoes too big ones, to put in the kitchen window to ripen in case the weather stayed too cools the next few days.

We've also pulled in a few plants that could've burned tonight, My basil, duranta, and crown of thorns are going to the fair on Monday.plus a couple of my houseplants.

Yesterday I planted for my fall/winter garden. I always run out of room. I promised myself that I would plan it better. It always happens. I made really wide aisles, so if I need more lettuce, I will squeeze it in. somehow.
