What did you do in the garden today?

Got back in town this evening(Thursday) at 10 PM. Did go out with a flashlight and check on the garden. Harvested some cherry tomatoes. Have a really long cucumber, but didn't pick it yet as the blossom end isn't all the way dried. Green beans (bush type) have lots of blossoms on them, no beans yet. 1 egg plant has 3 blossoms on it! :weeHopefully, I'll get some eggplants this year!!:fl Need to water the garden tomorrow. It looks thirsty.

Allergies turned out to be a sinus infection, double ear infection, and strep. :sick

Feel Better! Hope those meds kick in fast!

Only ever had strep 1x in my life, as an adult....got it maybe the 5th or 6th time my oldest was sick with it, but it wasn't fun, so I can commiserate.

Good morning gardeners. Sorry to hear you are under the weather @WthrLady. And no Penny, we don't shoot owls. LOL! How unfortunate the problems with your tomatoes @Acre4Me. I've only had to deal with blossom end rot once when I grew San Marzano tomato plants. I've always been afraid to plant potatoes because I've heard that this can cause blight in tomatoes. Not sure if that's true, I just don't want to go there. We got some good rain finally. It's been so hot and dry lately we really needed it. I picked more peas this morning. The pea plants are finally showing signs that they are almost done. The pole beans are nearing the tops of the pole so I'm thinking some horizontal poles between towers to give them more running room might be a good idea. The last two heads of romaine are doing fine in the garden. They are in the corner that gets shade and I mulched them to help keep them a little cooler. I'm hoping a few of my cherry tomatoes will ripen soon so I can make a salad with them. Have a great day everyone.

@Wee Farmer Sarah, we have potatoes, but in a different bed. And last year the potatoes were in different beds, so at least no soil contamination, maybe airborne? The potatoes looked good this year and last year, no obvious problems on the leaves. The previous owners that put the beds in grew primarily tomatoes and never amended the soil -it appears. So, likely depleted of nutrients and possibly inherent soil fungus etc.

Will be spraying the copper spray on the tomatoes today, might help. Sprayed the hormone spray yesterday, maybe it will also help the tomatoes. Packaging said would work on beans, cucumbers, and melons (a few other things too, but can’t remember), so they also got sprayed.

Japanese beetles are paying too much attention to my bush beans and soybeans. :barnie

Pole beans are doing well, climbing, still haven’t reached the top of the support, and only beginning to flower.

My potatoes are in containers; I’ll be sure to keep them farther from the tomatoes. It rained much of the night and it’s mosquito heaven out there. I’m staying in! Maybe I’ll don long pants and sleeves and throw some Bt in the ditch. I can hear the water moving farther down, where a few trickles join forces.

Not much to do out there anyway, but admire what’s flowering and pick kale and, er, “micro”greens. I think I let them go too long - not very micro!

Morning all been watered here pretty good won't have to maybe 4 days.. We are starting earthquake season I guess now here 4.6 but up North but they felt it from Canada to Olympia here .. had allot of barn owls on the farm when I was a kid they controlled some of the mice even garter snakes Dad said good for farm have a respect for them beautiful birds

I finally finished the last part of the fence around my garden. It is 6 ft tall!! I added another "trellis. It arches from one side of the garden over to the other side probably 7 or 7.5 ft tall at the apex. It's for the pole beans and cucumbers to climb on. I also use it to support the really tall cherry tomato plants.
I took some pictures the other day, I'll see if I can upload them from my phone to my laptop so I can post them here. I was watering the garden this morning and knocked off one of the flowers from one of the egg plants. :he I was trying to keep the water down low, but I guess that didn't work out so well.
After the sun went down and it started getting dark, I cut some of the grass.
