What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. I've been noticing that many of us have been experiencing similar problems with the wilting and poor development of our plants this year. I find this very curious as we are all mostly from different growing regions. Perhaps there's something different in the air? So after 3 straight days of canning tomatoes in various forms I thought I could take a break from it for at least a day or two, however, the not so ripe tomatoes languishing in my dining room greeted me at breakfast with bright red smiles. Aaaagh! Not today, tomorrow will have to do. Quick note: I pick my tomatoes before they are fully ripe for two reasons: 1- very ripe tomatoes are prone to bursting / splitting and 2-the squirrels prefer ripe tomatoes. However, I noticed this morning that an ambitious squirrel did a taste test on a not so ripe tomato and left most of it on the ground. So I picked more tomatoes, a couple of green beans and what I really hope is the last cucumber. I have some jalapenos and a poblano to pick in the front yard. Today is exciting because the wood pellets are being delivered. I think I was smart to order 3 tons rather than the usual 2 tons. The Old Farmer's Almanac winter forecast just came out and they are predicting another long cold and snowy winter. Pretty much like last winter only more snow. Nice horse @WthrLady. That's my favorite breed, very low maintenance and no poo to scoop. Good luck with your harvesting and canning everyone.

We need to get pellets. I heard the same, a snowy winter that goes on into spring. I'm ok with that! Bring on the snow!:celebrate

I root trimmed my grapefruit. Took a good 1/4 off the bottom then 3 V slits from the sides. That should keep it happy in it's small pot for a couple more years!

Better hurry. I heard the prices are going up on 1 September.

We are also picking up wood pellets -likely today. 2 tons, as 1 ton isn’t quite enough for the whole season, so 2 may be too much but can’t hardly find pellets after mid Feb when you really want them. The pellet stove is only supplemental heat anyway, in our large family room.

We are hopefully getting a load of chipped wood to add to the chicken run. All the rain washed out much of our deep litter layering in the run, so we need to beef that up. We will put a roof over the whole run, right now we have about 20 ft covered, which includes the coop length. We got the remaining posts for the roof installed a few weeks ago, so the time consuming/labor intensive part is done. So, 30 feet remaining to roof. To help mitigate the water situation, we need to put in some drainage to carry the water from the roof of the barn to the field behind us. Luckily, this is not a very long distance!

OMG the fjord horse is gorgeous! What's it constructed of? And you did the painting? Soooo beautiful!

I once had a collection of them. About 7 of them in graduated sizes and I loved it but sometime after I left home for college it just managed to disappear.
7/8 exterior plywood. Yup. I drew it and painted it.

You are a talented lady!!!

Is it harder to get the image on such a large scale? Or did you do it at the scale of a paintbrush and then blow it up in some way? However you did it, you really nailed those graceful, flowing curves!

I would imagine this is going to give your home or farm or ranch a real identity. Well done!
