What did you do in the garden today?

Going with raccoon.

ODD. Did you use liquid pectin? I've never had that work.

As for it not setting, reallllly odd.

++++

Cases won't get done today. I know. I know. But I forgot I had a huge wood frame to finish and that required DHs help. And I'm canning ketchup, so up and down the stairs, has gotten old, AND since DH is home today, it's alpaca pedicure day for as many as the monsters as I can catch.

They don't like it, and the feeling is mutual. LOL.

Nope. The world has switched over to European duvets and comforters and covers. Although in the US we still use sheet sets too i dont care for the messy look of them.

Bedspreads are hard to find, but thanks to the interweb...

A king spread measures 120'x118 inches.

I quilt have made covers for all our beds some have batting others do not depends on time of year ... make the 120 x 118 for out full size beds bigger for queen ones
vacuumed, mopped now have cleaned the cat boxes and coops washed dog towels and beds been pouring here off and on all day

6qts (12 pounds of tomatoes) of homemade tomato puree and spices were simmered down most of yesterday and most of today. DELICIOUS! It simmered down to 10 cups of ketchup. After I canned it, I had just enough left over for hamburgers tonight.

I canned it in half pint jars, so just enough. I wished I had some of those tiny jelly jars, but didn't.

Happy Camper.

I opened all the jars added 1 additional Tablespoon of pectin (powdered, I've never used liquid) and boiled it for 17 minutes. Then canned it back up. Have 3 fewer half pints than the first time. Re processed it. Hopefully it will set this time. It was setting on the ladle, so I am hopeful!
Then I opened all the peach jam jars ( they were set but not as firm as I wanted). I boiled this for another 10 minutes and added 1 Tablespoon of pectin ( it didn't have any to start with). Then canned it back up. Got 2 fewer half pints of the peach jam. Then re processed it.

Picked another half pound of green beans and a decent amount of cherry tomatoes. Blanched & froze the green beans.
A friend came over and bought 6 half pints of jellies, jams, marmalades & conserves! Total of 6 half pints not 6 of each. :lau

Took my daughter, her boyfriend, my mother, my husband and I out to dinner to celebrate the boyfriend's birthday.

I use cook type clearjel. I buy it buy the 5 pound bag at the loal mennonite market. I also buy they instant to make my own quick puddings.

The cook type is approved for canning.

I go ahead and make full on pie filling in the jar and send it off to boy scout camp outs where they dump it in this little pie makers or make cobbler with it.

Sounds like you had a fun day!
I love clearjel! Used it for the first time last spring in my rhubarb pie filling, and loved that it's clear (as its name implies)! Looks so much better than other thickeners which sometimes give a milky or cloudy appearance to canned goodies.

The apple jelly set up! The peach jam still looks as soft as it did before.
Picked some more cherry tomatoes, 1 small/medium regular tomato and some green beans.
Made a meatless spaghetti sauce using part of the 5 lb zucchini, small egg plant, 2 small green peppers and some onion. Used a jar of tomatoes that didn't seal and the half quart of pasta sauce that I had canned and put in the refrigerator!
I have to get up at 3:30 in the morning to go pick up my mom so I can get her to the hospital by 5 for her surgery. She's having a large cyst removed from her leg above and below her knee.
